1. Create a foundation chain using 4 chains

2. Bend the chain into a small U shape. Insert the hook under the front loop of the first chain, from the inside to the outside of the U.

3. Yarn over and pull the yarn th- rough both loops on the hook. This will leave one loop remaining on the hook, transforming the small U into a small O shape.

4. Now you'll start crocheting as many sc as the pattern calls for into this tiny circle. Pull on both sides of the chain to find the hole in the middle of the circle you just made. Insert the hook through the middle hole, from the front to the back.

5. Yarn over and pull the yarn back through the middle hole, drawing up a loop on the hook.

6. There should be two loops on the hook.

7. Yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops on the hook, completing one single crochet stitch. This leaves one loop remaining on the hook.

8. Repeat steps 4-7 until you have as many sc as the pattern calls for.
